From the Coordination Team

By Carlyn Mellors, Rural Directions Pty Ltd

Welcome to the April edition of the Bestprac e-newsletter. In this edition we are pleased to launch the ‘Responsive Grazing Management: A toolkit for sound land and livestock management', this has been the culmination of three years of work by SA Bestprac members and Rural Directions Pty Ltd, particularly Chelsea Muster and John Squires. For more information about this tool, please contact Chelsea on 08 8842 1103.

Many Bestprac groups have been meeting and discussing innovations under the Caring for our Country, Pastoral Property Innovation Manual Project. This is an exciting project because it is a catalyst for groups to meet again and exposes other producers to the Bestprac network. We are pleased with the progress of this project and are looking forward to the "road trip" phase.

We are starting to get innovation reports rolling in. We are also developing a "mock-up" of the manual so you can see what the final product will look like when we have the innovations compiled. If you have any innovation reports, please forward to Rural Directions Pty Ltd.

For the Queensland members, please note the Blackall Innovations Forum is on April 21. This is an initiative of the Blackall Bestprac group and Grazing Best Prac. See below for more details on this Forum.
Also in this edition, Susan Carn tells us about her trip to the Bureau of Meteorology office. Susan has been a great contributor to the e-news since our first edition. She is passionate about weather and has openly shared her learning's on the topic; thanks Susan. If you have any feedback about Susan's article please forward to me and I will happily send through to Susan.

As always, we are happy to accept contributions from any producers and stakeholders for the newsletter. Please contact Carlyn on 08 8842 1103 or cmellors@ruraldirections.com
