Quotes of the Month

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
-- Aristotle

This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us.

National Coordinator Update

By David Heinjus

Welcome to the fourth edition of the Bestprac e-news. I hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable festive season and welcomed the New Year in with good cheer.

In this edition we will hear from our keen Weather Watcher, Susan Carn about how she reviews the year that was and prepares for the coming year. There are also a few more articles from the Forum sessions; this time Steve Radeski from ANZ will follow-up his financial situation session and Chelsea Muster has a summary of the Holistic Management session enjoyed by many of the participants.

Stuart Mitchell, PAP Chairperson, last year attended a breech blowfly strike control research update sponsored by AWI in Sydney. Stuart provides us with an interesting and informative account of what he learnt at the session and how he is adopting aspects of it into his business. For information on the R&D being undertaken by AWI follow this link www.wool.com.au/2010/Industry_Research_and_Development/page__9056.aspx

We have signed the contract for the Caring for our Country Project: Pastoral Property Innovation Manual. We have a teleconference with all facilitators early next week and hope to get the project rolling shortly after that. More information will be available shortly after the meeting.

The e-news has been happening for a few months now and we would love to know what you think of it. Please contact Carlyn Mellors (cmellors@ruraldirections.com) with any feedback, comments or suggestions you have for the e-news. We are currently building momentum with the new project underway and hope that the e-news can remain a monthly newsletter. Your contributions, diary dates and/or photos are always welcome.

I hope you enjoy this edition of the e-news and wish you all the best for 2009.
