Welcome to the March edition of the Bestprac e-newsletter. The Caring for Our Country Project -Australian Pastoral Property Innovation Manual is underway with some groups meeting recently discussing innovations they have on their properties and road trip ideas.
In this edition, Bestprac facilitator, Chelsea Muster talks about Carbon Emissions - What's in it for Agriculture following, the North East - Eastern Districts and Yunta Bestprac groups hosted a Carbon Emissions Information day at Peterborough. This session was open to Bestprac members and non members in late February. The group also began collecting innovation ideas for the Australian Pastoral Property Innovation Manual and planning their Innovation Road Trip.
Australian Wool Innovation has announced they will be launching a new website soon to unite the entire wool pipeline - wool.com.
This issue also features an article by our keen weather watcher Susan Carn (Hawker Bestprac Group). Susan provides us with another update on the weather patterns. With the craziness of Mother Nature lately, if you have a rainfall update or photos of anything from dust storms to thunderstorms to share, please let the coordination team know by phoning 08 88421103 or emailing cmellors@ruraldirections.com.
The Blinman and Hawker Bestprac members also gathered in February beginning work on the Australian Pastoral Property Innovation Manual. Facilitator John Squires provides details of their day where the groups discussed the effect of current seasonal conditions on their business and discussed some broader climate related issues while also investigating business models.
Innovations Galore! There are plenty of innovations out there that have been developed and implemented into pastoral grazing businesses. Some examples are provided in this edition. Check out the You Tube video of the Ezy Shear machine developed by Peak Hill Industries from NSW.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the Bestprac E-news
