Rotational Grazing to Optomise Your Pastoral Business

Rotational Grazing has provided Angus and Kelly Whyte, with benefits that their previous set stocking system for their sheep grazing business could not. They found set stocking was detrimental to their environment and carrying capacity. The principle of rotational grazing is that a mob of sheep have a number of smaller paddocks which they are rotated between, rather than sheep grazing one large paddock.

Since the change, benefits have included better pasture utilisation and landscape management, improved productivity, and a reduction in labour requirements. This is a system that Land and Livestock Consultant Nic Kentish endorses, and encourages other businesses in the pastoral zone to consider.

Watch the video and learn from Angus and Nic experiences with rotational grazing and find out the pastoral zone principles they suggest.
