Bestprac Qld State Forum - Friday 4th April, Longreach

Posted by Bestprac on Feb 25 2014

What’s on the menu for your Livestock?
Friday 4th April, 2014 8.45-3.30pm
Auditorium Longreach Pastoral College, Longreach

With the unpredictability of seasons in Central West Qld, producers are regularly faced with the challenge of making difficult management decisions which can affect the future of their business for months or even years to come.

This one day forum will be looking in depth at one of the most important assets that a grazing business is required to manage – GRASS.

Participants will hear from both local producers sharing their on-farm experiences and industry experts. There will be facilitated discussion sessions allowing the audience to learn from each other.

Information sessions:

  • Monitoring the amount of pasture in your paddock
  • Maintaining good pasture condition
  • How to get the best response when it does rain
  • Using diet quality tests to make livestock management decisions
  • Matching what to supplement feed with what’s in the paddock
  • Damage mitigation permits – macropods
  • Population estimate survey - macropods
  • Central West check fence update

Smoko and lunch will be supplied.
